Mattel and Carlyle Nuera have done it again — and this time it’s straight-up insulting.
Priced at a whopping $100, this “deluxe” customization kit was designed by none other than Carlyle Nuera, and once again, he delivered what collectors have been loudly complaining about: dolls that come with wigs instead of rooted hair.
Almost nobody in the adult collector community wants another wigged Barbie. Wigs with silicone caps look stiff, they slide around, they’re impossible to restyle without looking messy, and they just don’t have the same realism or playability as rooted hair.
Yet here we are again, with Carlyle Nuera giving us what we don’t want.
For $100 you get three articulated bodies (Petite, Athletic, and Curvy), three heads, three wigs, and some basic mix-and-match neutral outfits. Sounds generous on paper, right? But when you break it down, you’re basically paying premium collector money for the same thing people have been criticizing Carlyle Nuera for delivering time after time: lazy hair choices.

For one hundred dollars you expect rooted Saran hair, beautiful face sculpts, and actual quality — not three bald heads and a pile of synthetic garbage that most people will immediately throw in a drawer.

This is lazy.
